Important to keep in mind is whether you are buying a knee board for recreation or for competition, as recreational kneeboards are not as expensive as a fully loaded competition kneeboard. Kneeboards are generally made of solid foam and fiberglass, though some variants have graphite or a graphite composite to make them lighter. While fins on the kneeboards makes them easier to steer, those without fins are great for doing stunts. The curvature on the underside of the kneeboard is known as the rocker number.
